The Gargano has wonderful landscapes, that are amongst the most beautiful in whole Italy: more than 130 km of coast, sea grottoes, reefs, bizarre rocks, pictureque villages high on steep cliffs and fascinating archeological treasures. "Borgo Antico" is an ideal starting-point for a lot of excursions: From the harbour of Peschici it is possible to embark for the Tremiti Islands, visit the sea caves and the wonderful shore with its suggestive bays and tall rocks. You can also visit Croatia in one day. Only 10 km away there is the national park of "Foresta Umbra", an enormous forest that hosts a rich flora and fauna. You can also visit in one day: Castel del Monte, Alberobello, the Castellana caves, Naples and Pompei. Besides, the Gargano is also known for its religious cult: San Giovanni Rotondo (the town where Saint Padre Pio used to live), Monte Sant’ Angelo with San Michele’s sanctuary and San Marco in Lamis with San Matteo’s sanctuary.
